How to Play
How to Play FutBocce
Objective
The goal is to score points by kicking your balls closer to the pallino (small white target ball) than your opponent.
Equipment
Bocce balls: Typically 8 balls, divided into 2 colors for teams (4 per team/player).
Pallino (or Jack): A small ball used as the target.
Setup
Choose Teams: Two teams, with 1-4 players per team.
Court: Play on a flat, open area with no dangerous obstacles. Play inside! Grass, sand, or a gym floor works well. Play anywhere you want. No boundaries is awesome, or use the cones to create your own court! Play on an actual bocce court so you can use the walls.
Decide First Kick: Use a coin toss or similar method (Rock, Paper, Scissors :D) to decide who kicks the pallino first.
Gameplay
Starting the Round:
-The starting team kicks (or tosses) the pallino into the court, ensuring it lands within bounds.
-The same team kicks the first bocce ball, aiming to get it as close to the pallino as possible.
Turns:
-Teams alternate turns based on who is furthest from the pallino. If Team A's ball is closer, Team B continues kicking until one of their balls is closer.
-Each player takes one kick per turn in rotation.
Scoring:
-After all balls are kicked, the team with the closest ball to the pallino scores
-Points are awarded for each ball closer to the pallino than the opposing team's nearest ball
-If one ball is touching the pallino it is worth 2 points!
Starting the Next Round:
-The team that scored in the previous rounds kicks the pallino to begin the next round.
Rules & Etiquette
Out-of-Bounds Balls: Any ball kicked out of bounds is removed from play.
Hitting the Pallino: Players can intentionally kick the pallino or other bocce balls to change positions strategically.
Fouls: Committing fouls (e.g., kicking the ball while standing out of bounds or using your hands) disqualifies the kick.
Winning: The game continues until one team reaches the pre-determined score, usually 12 or 16 points.
Tips for Success
Aim for Accuracy: Practice controlled kicks to land the ball near the pallino.
Strategic Placement: Block opponents' paths or kick their balls away from the pallino.
Adapt to Terrain: Adjust for slopes, grass, or other surface conditions. This modified bocce ball adds a dynamic, active twist to the traditional game. Have fun kicking!
